SUMMARY:
As part of a team of five, we designed this window display as an advertisement for Beetlejuice 2, aiming to highlight the cultural impact of the original Beetlejuice film, which has inspired everything from fashion and TV shows to costumes and home décor over the past 30+ years. Our goal was to embody the quirky, offbeat spirit of Beetlejuice in a fun and inviting way while also celebrating the hand-crafted aesthetic of the upcoming Beetlejuice 2 film.
We created a dynamic scene featuring the iconic character of Char Man, seated in the middle of the famous afterlife waiting room. In addition to this centerpiece, we brought in the notorious sandworm, transforming the space into a dark yet vibrant environment. The application of colored gels to spotlights helped us create an almost otherworldly atmosphere, paying homage to the film’s surreal visual style.
PROCESS:
Our first step was to develop a design that would draw people in and immerse them in the unique, playful energy of Beetlejuice while ensuring the space remained dynamic and engaging from every angle. We underwent multiple design iterations and prototyping stages, spending over 90 hours refining the concept to perfection. The final display included intricate window vinyl prints, along with the construction of the iconic Beetlejuice sign, which illuminated the street at night to attract passersby. Everything in the display was entirely handmade, with minimal use of tools, ensuring a distinct, hand-crafted feel that reflected the spirit of the film.
