SUMMARY:
As part of a team of six, we were tasked with designing a window display that perfectly captured the essence of the exhibit currently on display. The exhibit chosen was SUMMIT One Vanderbilt: Air by Kenzo Digital. This experiential installation, created by Kenzo Digital, aims to reconnect us with the environment, and we sought to achieve the same in our window display to reflect the feeling of the exhibit.
For this window, we wanted to convey the feeling of walking on air, inspired by the exhibit's height and the reflectiveness of its multi-mirrored surfaces. We styled a mannequin to represent visitors, creating the illusion of floating in the air. The balloons symbolize the lightness of being 1,000 feet above the ground, while the sky backdrop represents the vastness seen through the exhibit's windows.
PROCESS:
During the development of this window display, we underwent multiple redesigns and prototyping phases to ensure a smooth installation, removal, and effective communication of the concept. We collaborated closely with our printing department, researched mannequins, and utilized a CNC router to create intricate details that would have otherwise been time-consuming and distracting from other important tasks.
